Due to the recent changes and the restructure of the business, we will now clear over 20,000 items of luxury goods at very low reserve prices. We are currently engaged in selling our warehouses and showrooms and we need to clear the premises by the Autumn of 2024.

We will hold a series of small Auctions in area’s of Scotland that we have a strong client base and give you an opportunity to claim some great lots as many will be sold to the highest bidders.

For those that don’t know us. Charles Phillips was formed in 1987,  We are consignment Auctioneers who specialise in the expeditious clearance of quality merchandise at below market price. Typical categories are, Original Art, Famous Artist Limited Editions, Diamond Jewellery, Hand made furniture, Sculptures, Bronzes, Carvings, Decorative Porcelain, Wines and Whisky, Persian Carpets, Memorabilia and Unique one of kind Artistic items. For the past 30 plus years we have procured goods from customers, manufactures and Artisans from around the globe. Our main service was to containerise and ship these goods to the UK and sell by live Auction at our venues in the Uk and Ireland. We also built a major showroom facility within our head office premises to facilitate customers mainly in interior design fields or for customers transforming building interiors.

As they say “All good things come to an end” Since all our lives dramatically changed over the last 3 years so did our life styles and the way we purchase goods. With the surge in online buying it’s no longer economically viable for our sector to hold large Venue Auctions,  so an online Auction service is a natural step for our future. Our premises are right in the middle of an active development zone so it was an easy choice for us to sell and re locate to an office environment in order to perform our online Auctions. I must say it’s not the same as a vibrant interactive live Auction which always has a lot of buzz and excitement but on the plus side it’s easy to operate, you upload photographs, create an online catalogue then arrange delivery of sold items through the owner of the goods at the Auction close. No need for the large storage premises or operating your own transport fleet.

We now want to give the final push to clear our premises and will be appearing in your area soon for the final time ( Scotland only ) Please look out for your invitation. This last Auction will be the one you shouldn’t miss as many previous price tags have been removed and goods will sell to the highest bidders !!!

Whatever location event you attend you will see a great cross section of the above mentioned categories. If you are unable to stay for the whole event and are still able to attend the viewing period it’s still possible to leave a bid on any item with the Auctioneer.

Buyers Guide


We can always arrange delivery of any item but depending on the item it could incur unnecessary costs, you will always have the option of collecting from our warehouse and showrooms just South of Edinburgh we will be happy to store items for you free of charge for up to 3 months after the purchase date. If time is not an issue for your delivery we can often help buyers by delivering with our own vehicles when they are near to your area but this is dependant on logistics, our fee would be nominal if you elect this service.



You could save substantially on a delivery charge on framed and glazed items as its possible for us to send to you without the frame. If you elect to do this and want us to retain the frame for uplift at a later date you just have to inform us and we will store it free of charge up to a period of 3 months from purchase date.

All frames on items are sold as seen but if a frame needs a little touch up prior to collection or sending our workshop will do this free of charge.



All our jewellery comes with independent valuations from industry accredited valuers. We know from experience at auction that most buyers like to insure their jewellery purchases and all the valuations we supply should be accepted by all the major insurance companies. If you need any assistance on this we are here to help.

We state the ring size and description with each ring lot, if you know what size you want your ring to be we can have it adjusted prior to sending for a nominal charge of £30 + vat. Most rings have a wide tolerance for sizing if its a plain band but if the ring has diamonds or gemstones on the shoulder this normally restricts sizing to a few sizes up or down.

If you are having jewellery delivered it will always be done by fully insured registered post at our cost price from the royal mail.


All technology items are always brand new and boxed come with the full manufacturers warranty we don’t offer any second hand items in this category.


All our wines are cellar stored but we can’t guarantee vintage wines that are more than 20 years old unless we have personally stored the wine from the year of bottling.


All our furniture has been specially selected it’s all hand made or hand decorated and painted. All items have been either stored or been on display in our showrooms the finish on our furniture is consistent with artisan products most of these items are special to us and have been sympathetically stored however if an item is outside this description we will give it a special mention otherwise we will state that the item is reasonable for its year.
